Greenheck Group in Shelby marked a pivotal moment Thursday as company representatives, community leaders and elected officials gathered for a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of a new employee wellness center.
The facility, which will be located at the Foothills Commerce Center at 1001 Commerce Center Drive and across the street from one of Greenheck’s manufacturing sites, is expected to be operational by summer 2026.
The company first announced its plan to add a wellness center to its campus in January.
The wellness center will be open exclusively to Greenheck Group employees and their families and will provide primary, preventative and acute care, occupational health and physical therapy, medication dispensing, lab services and mental health, wellness and fitness services.
The Shelby wellness center will be a 12,000-square-foot building with the space equally divided between a health clinic and fitness center.
Greenheck is partnering with Premise Health, a third party healthcare provider and a leading national healthcare company with 800 wellness centers across the United States and Guam.
Mayor Stan Anthony called it a very exciting day for Shelby and said Greenheck has demonstrated that it values employees and the health of its employees.
“When I heard about the wellness center, I couldn’t have been more proud,” he said. “I’m looking forward to the ribbon cutting in a few months.”
Anthony said it will make the community a better place.
Cleveland County Manager David Cotton said many companies talk about how their employees are the reason they are able to accomplish the things they do, but very few actually invest in their staff the way Greenheck does.
Carrie Strobel, chief HR officer for Greenheck, said the groundbreaking was about more than celebrating a facility, but about building access, support and a healthier future for people who face barriers to accessing healthcare.
“We recognize the challenge and want to be a solution,” she said. “We know how impactful this can be. We experienced it at our Wisconsin wellness center.”
The company’s flagship center was opened at its campus in Schofield, Wisconsin.
Strobel said the facility will have a lasting impact.
Ben Miller, Premise Health chief revenue officer, said the company operates over 800 wellness centers across the nation.
He said they are excited to be able to deliver unmatched services to employees, and their mission is simple: to get people well and help them stay well.
Miller said he is looking forward to returning next summer once the doors open.
Greenheck employees, Premise Health, and elected officials gathered at a mound of dirt and tossed a ceremonial shovel of dirt to mark the occasion.
Greenheck Group, which was founded shortly after World War II by two brothers in a sheet metal shop, is a manufacturer of commercial air movement, control and conditioning equipment. It began operations in Cleveland County around 18 years ago and has since had five expansions.
It now employs 5,400 people across eight states and three countries.
