Health, safety and self-care to be featured at Marion wellness event

The Marion Women’s Club is set to host its fourth annual Women’s Wellness Wednesday on June 18, offering a day filled with health-focused activities and services.

The event will take place at the Women’s Club & Home, 1126 E. Center St., Marion. It is free and open to the public, with no registration required.

“We’re thrilled to again be offering daylong activities for women in our community once again,” said Valerie Wigton, Women’s Club president. “It’s an opportunity to empower women and give back to our community.”

A key feature of the event is the availability of free mammograms for uninsured and underserved women, provided through a partnership with OhioHealth. The Mobile Mammogram Unit will be on site 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Clients must schedule the service by calling OhioHealth at 614-566-1111 by Wednesday, June 4.

The American Red Cross will host a blood drive inside the Abigail Harding Lewis Auditorium 9 a.m.-2 p.m. To schedule a blood donation, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or use the Red Cross Blood Donor app.

Special programs kick off at 5 p.m.

Additional wellness programs will begin at 5 p.m. with a Healthy Happy Half Hour,” featuring heart-healthy appetizers and beverages. Marion Police officer Caleb Rector will present Be Safe & Aware, sharing safety tips and proactive actions to stay safe.

At 6:15 p.m., Alicia Turner, owner of Serenity Now, will present Organize Me, Please! She will share tips on how to be better organized and how it can improve overall mental health.

Guests can Dance into Wellness at 7 p.m. with a presentation by dance instructors Don Ewell and Sarah Stalter, who will share the health benefits of dance. Guests will be invited to participate in an interactive dance session.

Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day, including a YMCA family membership, $100 gift cards, an RFID travel bag, a RING camera, personal alarms, $600 in free professional organization services and a membership to the Marion Women’s Club.
