The biggest wearable fitness device trends of 2025

As a personal trainer with over 30 years in the industry, Nikki Ellis knows a thing or two about fitness fads. Here are her top picks for what will be trending in the world of wearable fitness devices in 2025.

1. Apple Watch Series 7

Apple fans, rejoice! The new Apple Watch Series 7 isn’t just another shiny gadget – it’s a powerhouse of health and fitness feedback. This latest version from the World of Apple has a larger touch screen  (which is also super rack resistant). On your watch you will be able to do an ECG any tie, measure your blood oxygen levels, use mindfulness and sleep tracking apps and of course measure your workouts. Remember if you have a current Apple watch you can trade it in and upgrade.

2 WHOOP

If you’re serious about understanding how your body performs and recovers, WHOOP might be your new best friend. This sleek, minimalist band goes beyond simple tracking – delivering detailed insights into your recovery, sleep, and daily strain. It’s built for comfort, so you won’t even notice it on your wrist. Critics often highlight its cost, but here’s the kicker: WHOOP offers an attractive free trial so you can test it out before committing. It’s perfect for anyone ready to level up their training with precision data. If you’ve ever wondered how you can have a great night’s sleep but not feel that fab the next day Whoop really highlights what else is going on, not only looking at the type of sleep you achieved but also HRV, respiration rate, resting heart rate and skin temperature. This is tech at its finest.

3. Oura ring

Want your wrists free? The Oura ring is for you. Firstly, the ring comes in a variety of colours (black, silver and rose gold) and if – like me- you’ve been a little put off by it being worn on the index finger it can actually be worn on any finger. The Oura is designed to be worn all the time and continually collects over 20 elements of biometric data that directly impact your wellbeing day and night.

Although not strictly just for fitness you would definitely wear these for exercising outside and these sunnies have to be the ultimate in wearable tech right now! Listed on Oprah’s Favourite Things for 2024 the Meta Wayfarers come in lots of different colours and of course do all the things that normal sunglasses do in terms of eye protection but you can also use your voice commands to take photos, make calls, send messages and listen to music.  You can use Meta AI via your wayfarers to translate a sign, summarise a food menu or remember where you parked your car. You can livestream your walk or jog straight to insta of Facebook!  This truly feels very Maxwell Smart – and we are here for it!

5. Fitbit charge 6

Are you looking for a great looking tracker that doesn’t cost a king’s ransom, doesn’t sign you up for a monthly plan and still gives you plenty of info? The Fitbit Charge 6 is for you. It tells you all the usual CV training feedback as well as O2 saturation, high and low heart rate warnings, ECG capabilities, skin temperature and stress management scores. Like the Whoop featured above the Fitbit also has a silent alarm, waking you up gently each morning with a quiet vibration on your wrist . This is a well priced and excellent piece of wearable fitness tech.
