LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — An educational initiative started by a Louisville nonprofit has expanded to hundreds of students in Bardstown.
Christopher 2X’s Game Changers has devoted resources to supporting children impacted by gun violence with the Future Healers program, which is a partnership between the Game Changers, UofL Hospital’s Trauma Institute and students at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. The goal of the program is to help Louisville children who have been impacted by violence in their neighborhoods to build a better future.
Future Healers Kiddos Medical program is an educational initiative that introduces children to medicine and science as a way to provide opportunity and learning to build upon their future.
In February, the nonprofit announced the program’s expansion to Bardstown, the first rural expansion in the state. The program for children ages 4 to 13 years old has already expanded to Nashville.

Christopher 2X Game Changers is working with Our Commonwealth, a nonprofit in Bardstown dedicated to youth STEM programming. The Future Healers Journey to Wellness workbook was introduced to children in Bardstown. It’s a 100-page book that blends fun and learning activities for a unique resource that focuses on wellness and health sciences. University of Louisville School of Medicine students authored the book.
Now the Future Healers program has expanded to Bardstown Elementary School. It will bring hands-on health education to 230 elementary school students, according to a news release.
”Bardstown Elementary is proud to collaborate with the inspiring Future Healers program. This opportunity will introduce students to careers in healthcare and equip them with essential life skills, fostering resilience and self-direction,” Dr. Joshua DeWar, principal of Bardstown Elementary School, said in a news release. “The impact of this program will be felt throughout the Bardstown community and beyond—strengthening the future of healthcare across Kentucky.”
The expansion into Bardstown increases the program’s impact to 330 participants in the rural area.
“This is an incredible show of support from our Bardstown partners. We are thrilled to see their children engaging in fun, hands-on learning through our health sciences curriculum,” 2X said in a news release. “This expansion represents a robust investment in their future.”
